ABOUT EVENT
The Global Esports Industry is on its way toward setting new benchmarks while maintaining a healthy contribution to the global economy. Gamers this decade actually consider gaming as a viable career option as the global esports revenue is set to reach $1.86 billion by 2025. Users prefer watching gaming content over other types of content contributing to the increasing Esports audience which is projected to cross the 500 million mark by the end of 2022. Streaming is also one of the fastest-growing revenue streams growing at a CAGR of 24.8 % leading to many new streamers emerging around the globe every single day which in turn increases awareness amongst viewers.
The eSports industry in India too has seen tremendous growth over the years, both in terms of viewership and revenue. Though at a nascent stage, the esports market size in India has quickly scaled to INR 3 Bn in FY2021 and is expected to reach INR 11 Bn by FY2025. With its capabilities in mobile gaming and the influx of global esports players, India will ultimately produce world-class esports athletes capable of competing at the top levels. Following Cricket, India has the most significant potential for worldwide success in esports. Furthermore, as esports becomes a viable profession for the youth, the number of players playing esports is expected to grow at 78% CAGR by 2025 to reach 1.5 million players and 250,000 teams
As a sport, it has steadily gained popularity with youth, and consequently has also become an attractive option for brands to connect with young audiences. The growth of esports in the nation will open up many opportunities for the future. It would be fair to conclude that the future is digital and that the future is esports.
With this view, CII National Committee on Sports is pleased to organise a virtual event in partnership with Esports Federation of India to deliberate on ‘Esports’ on 15 July 2022. The sessions in the event will provide the platform for the leaders and key stakeholders in this industry to share their insights on the Opportunities and challenges of Esports in India and explore its future impact.
