COVID19 has been unprecedented in terms of its impact across countries, economies and livelihoods. Indeed, it has been a healthcare crisis leading to an economic crisis. If at all there is a silver lining to the pandemic, it is that it has brought Health to the forefront of the narrative across the globe, including in India. Fragmented healthcare systems and health delivery gaps have become apparent across countries including the more advanced economies, while this pandemic has also thrown up outliers.

Many nations are realigning and rethinking national goals and the focus in India has shifted towards greater self-reliance. This has opened up new areas of partnerships and collaborations. Some important narratives include the scope of digital health, could AI and Machine learning be used to augment skilling/ training of workforce, exporting healthcare from India, making Universal Health coverage a reality, pursuing value based care etc.

To deliberate on these exciting ideas and many more, the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) will be organising its flagship thought leadership forum ASIA HEALTH 2020 from 18th -20th November 2020 on the theme ‘Resetting Healthcare and Health Systems delivery’ on a digital platform.

The event will be an opportunity to come together, ideate and find innovative solutions to bring quality healthcare within the reach of every citizen. The sector can truly grow to a scale which is sustainable and viable, and incubate a model which is an example for the world. I believe the potential is boundless, especially given the outstanding clinical talent, willingness to invest in world-class infrastructure, rapid strides made by technology, and the possibilities opened up by digital and m-health, AI and predictive analytics.
