Confederation of Indian Industry (Eastern Region) is organizing its Annual Regional Meeting and Conference on the theme – Image, Innovation Infrastructure, Investment and Inclusiveness on Saturday, 12 March 2022 at ITC Sonar, Kolkata and live on CIIHIVE Platform.
India’s target of reaching to a USD 5 trillion economy by 2025 from current USD 3.1 trillion would depend majorly on the contribution of the states. The CAGR needs to grow at 12.4% to yield $5 trillion in 2025 at current conversion rate of INR 75. The growth can be driven faster with the right policies with the emphasis on how to industrialize sustainably as a vital source of employment and economic growth. Each state must study its unique composition and plan accordingly.
While data shows India is on track to grow to $5 trillion in the next 5-6 years, however, there must be a disruption in the business-as-usual mindset. Focus has been laid on the recent budget that aimed at rejuvenating government spending towards infrastructure expansion, sustainability, agriculture and digitization. Each state must create a unique plan based on its Gross Value Added (GVA) composition and human capital development. The state governments must identify the challenges and invest accordingly which would help fast-track India’s progress to a top-3 economy.
Looking ahead, during India@100, the nation would emerge as a driver, rather than adopter of global trends. The climate is emerging as a key governance challenge. There are new warnings about how the climate crisis will have huge implications for India’s political economy and livelihoods. The government has included environmental security as a part of national security and has also declared a goal of making India energy independent by the 100th year of Indian independence. India should aim to become an innovation and technology driven, inclusive, sustainable and socially conscious nation.
Against this backdrop, Confederation of Indian Industry (Eastern Region) is organizing a Conference on Image, Innovation, Infrastructure, Investment and Inclusiveness, coinciding with the Annual Regional Meeting 2022 at 1115 hrs on Saturday, 12 March 2022 at ITC Sonar, Kolkata and live on CIIHIVE, which will attempt to deliberate on the role of the government and industry to leap forward towards becoming the targeted economic powerhouse by undertaking steps for creating the required ecosystem for the growth.
